TMNZ’s Commitment to Community and Youth Development

At TMNZ, our dedication to enhancing community welfare through proactive involvement in educational and career development initiatives is more than just a commitment—it's a passion. This year, we were proud to play a significant role in supporting the Topline Contracting training academy, an inspiring 12-week program designed to steer young individuals towards meaningful careers in civil construction.

Established six years ago by Taurus Taurima, the academy provides a comprehensive training regimen that covers a spectrum of trades including building, concreting, drainage, powerline work, and traffic management. Additionally, it supports its participants with essential services like literacy enhancement, along with alcohol, drug, and mental health counselling to ensure holistic development.

We were fortunate to host two remarkable cadets, Haze Maniapoto and Kymani Brown, who chose to specialise in traffic management. Over an eight-week period, Haze and Kymani were integrated into our TMNZ team, where they learned the ropes of the trade under the guidance of experienced mentors. They engaged in weekly tasks, demonstrating their growing skills and reporting their progress to their facilitators.

Their hard work and dedication culminated in a Graduation Ceremony in Havelock North, which was well-attended by family, local dignitaries, civil contractors, and our proud TMNZ Hawkes Bay team members. Kymani received the well-deserved excellence award for Most Improved Cadet, a recognition of his personal journey. Meanwhile, Haze made his family proud in graduating from the program. It was a moment of celebration and a testament to the potential within our youth when given the right opportunities and support.

We are incredibly proud of both Haze and Kymani's achievements. Their success is a clear indicator of TMNZ's impact through our core value of Growth, as we prepare to participate in the next intake of the academy. This involvement not only helps us give back to the community but also aligns perfectly with our mission to foster potential and encourage personal and professional growth.

As we reflect on the success of this initiative, we look forward to continuing our support for the Topline Contracting training academy. Our goal is to help more young individuals like Haze and Kymani navigate their paths to successful careers in civil construction and traffic management.
