It’s All About Whānau!
At TMNZ, we know it takes more than skill and smarts to do what we do — it takes heart. And when that heart is shared across generations, the impact is something truly special. This Mother’s Day, we’re shining a spotlight on dynamic families from our TMNZ Branches who live and breathe that spirit of whānau every day.
Jenn & Meadow
Jenn has been with TMNZ for 5.5 years, and in that time, she’s built a reputation as one of the most respected Senior STMS and mentors in the company. Whether it’s leading a crew, guiding a new recruit, or stepping up when it counts, Jenn brings a calm confidence that others naturally gravitate toward. Meadow joined TMNZ around two years ago as a TMO and has been making waves ever since — not just for her performance, but for the personality she brings to every shift. Her bright energy is contagious, her work ethic is solid, and those signature dimples? Let’s just say they’re practically famous around the Whangārei branch. It’s no surprise she was runner-up for the He Poutama Taitamariki Youth Employee/Employer of the Year Award in 2024. Meadow’s one to watch — and she’s already showing she’s got the same strong spirit as her mum.
Jenn and Meadow often work side by side from our Whangārei branch, and by all accounts, they make a great team. “We’re good,” Meadow laughs. “Until I need a change — then I jump on Dad’s crew for a bit!” Yes, you read that right — even Dad is part of the TMNZ Whangārei whānau! This family really does keep it all in-house, and we think that’s pretty special.
Karina, Anahera & Rotana
And it’s not just in Whangārei where the whānau magic happens — down in our Hamilton branch, another family brings the same energy and unity to the job. Karina Haira, our Hamilton Staff Rep and a skilled CAT ABC-P, has been with TMNZ for 7 years. Her daughter Anahera, a TMO-P, has been part of the team for 3 years, and together with Karina’s son Rotana, they form a real powerhouse trio.
This family works like a well-oiled machine — there’s trust, mutual respect, and a deep understanding of each other’s strengths. They’ve built a rhythm that makes tough days easier and good days even better. They communicate openly, support one another without hesitation, and bring a strong sense of pride and purpose to every shift. It's clear they love what they do — and they love making a difference together.
Josephine & Her Boys
Josephine Kiddie’s passion for traffic management runs deep — so deep, in fact, that it has inspired three of her children to follow in her footsteps. With over 23 years of industry experience, Josephine now leads as a Team Leader Cat AB Practicing at our Palmerston North Branch, where she works alongside two of her children, Tu-Kotahi Kahotea (TMO-P) and Jahrome Rippingale (TTMW). The friendly sibling rivalry between TK and Jahrome often brings some extra energy to the team, with TK, the younger of the two, enjoying every opportunity to outshine his older brother, who recently transitioned into temporary traffic management from an environmental ranger role.
Josephine laughs about managing them both at work and at home, admitting she can be harder on her own boys than anyone else — often needing nothing more than a "mother look" to keep them in line. In a family of nine, there's never a dull moment, and they cherish the time spent together both on and off the road.
A Mother’s Day Message
At TMNZ, family isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we see in action every day. Whether it’s one generation sharing their wisdom or the next bringing fresh energy, working alongside whānau reminds us what it means to support one another, grow together, and share a few laughs along the way.
This Mother’s Day, we tip our hard hats to all the incredible mums out there — especially those on our own team.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at TMNZ.
