Mid-Year Events Momentum

As we are fast approaching the midpoint of another action-packed year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the extraordinary work of the TMNZ team. From early morning setups to last-minute plan redesigns, we’ve been on the ground supporting some of the country’s most iconic sporting and community events—bringing safety, expertise, and reliability to every road closure, detour, and intersection.

A Flying Start to the Year

TMNZ kicked off 2025 with a calendar full of events that showcase our team’s versatility and dedication. We’ve had the privilege of managing traffic for a wide range of occasions, including:

  • BMX Oceania Championships

  • Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon – Palmerston North

  • UCOL 2025 Graduation Parade – Palmerston North

  • Ironkids Taupo Triathlon – hosted by Waipahihi School

  • Karapiro Marathon – Team Relay Event (our official Naming Partner debut!)

Each of these events came with its own unique set of challenges—from unpredictable weather to complex route logistics—but our team rose to every occasion.

Weet-Bix TRYathlon: Early Start, Big Smiles
At dawn, our TMNZ team was on the ground in Ongley Park setting up the Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) for over 1,500 young participants. The Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon offered an unforgettable day of swimming, cycling, and running for children aged 6 to 15. With an intricate course spread out across parkland and local roads, our precise execution ensured smooth transitions, safe crossings, and a stress-free experience for families.

Ironkids Taupo: Rising to the Challenge
When we received a last-minute call to assist with the Ironkids Triathlon in Taupo, our team didn’t hesitate. Within hours, we developed and implemented a robust traffic management plan, allowing the event to proceed safely for over 500 young athletes. From the Great Lake swim to the run and bike legs, TMNZ managed road closures and detours that helped the community come together for a successful day.

UCOL Graduation Parade: Rain Can’t Stop a Celebration
Despite the rain, the spirit was high as the UCOL Class of 2025 paraded through Palmerston North to celebrate their achievements. TMNZ managed temporary road closures and provided on-site support to ensure the safety of students, whānau, and spectators throughout the route. Rain or shine, we’re proud to play a part in such meaningful moments.

Karapiro Marathon: A Special Milestone
TMNZ was proud to serve as the Naming Partner for the Team Relay Event at this year’s Karapiro Marathon—marking another memorable chapter in our partnership with Event Promotions. Our roots in the Waikato run deep—Hamilton is where TMNZ began 24 years ago—so supporting an event along the Karapiro/Waikato River truly felt like a homecoming. Our TMNZ Crew went above and beyond, not only ensuring traffic management and public safety for the community but also keeping an eye out for our own teammates who were out on the course. We were excited to have several TMNZ team members lacing up and joining the race themselves!

 What Sets Us Apart

Event Traffic Management presents unique challenges: increased foot traffic and complex logistics. TMNZ’s specialised event management division thrives in these conditions. With experience in marathons, triathlons, cycling races, parades, concerts, and more, our flexible resource base and tactical approach ensure safety without compromise.

Our on-the-ground event managers work closely with stakeholders to make real-time decisions that keep events running smoothly—even when conditions shift. That’s the TMNZ difference.

The rest of 2025 promises more exciting opportunities to support community, cultural, and sporting events across New Zealand. We’re ready to bring the same energy, precision, and commitment to every project—keeping roads safe and events successful.

If you're planning an event, get in touch to see how TMNZ can help make it a smooth and safe experience for all.
